Candidacy Statement for SEDS-USA Vice Chair: Delwin L. Elder

A statement explaining why you want to be considered for each position and what you hope to accomplish during your term. Also explain how this fits in with your vision of SEDS for the near future (next five years).

Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. Through the actuality of our name we are necessarily a universal organization, yet I am most interested in SEDS in its national and international profile. This consists, first of all, of active communication between regional chapters to allow them the resources to perform activities they could not otherwise accomplish. Second, organization of national events is also meaningful, for it grants us opportunities to assemble to hear new ideas and information. Perhaps more important is the relationship we have with our Board of Advisors to whom we could be more devoted than we have been in the past. They are a source of many of our "connections" with important people and companies actively engaged in space exploration and development, and are a source for much of our funding. I would like to devote myself to these three missions as part of our journey to Space: the final frontier. Thank you.

A short description of your previous experience in SEDS.

I just recently joined SEDS and became a full member. Since joining I have been on a wonderful star party and am eagerly looking forward to the next. Meanwhile I am involved with our chapter's other projects including an educational conference for high school students, building a telescope, and public outreach.
