**************************************************************** * SEDS-Chapters : Official SEDS-USA Communications to Chapters * * Please Forward This to Your Chapter if Appropriate * **************************************************************** Hi, This post begins a series of periodic updates from your national SEDS organization, as to the status and activities of SEDS at the national level. This initial post is going out to a wide-distribution, but future posts will be sent to some subset of this distribution (we'll determine that based on your feedback). SEDS-USA (the national board), is also "by students, for students" much as the individual chapters are, and those students involved in SEDS-USA, are often involved in the leadership of their own chapters. As such, SEDS-USA waxes and wanes as the chapters often do. As an interested SEDS Alumni, a former SEDS-USA chair and chapter president, I've helped to maintain the "bare minimum" level of activity at the national level during these lulls, but hopefully the most recent lull has come to the end. Now to the update! Several students have surfaced recently and expressed an interest in revitalizing the national organization. The two most recent are JoHanna Przybylowski (MIT SEDS President), and Joshua Neubert (MIT SEDS Vice President), along with David Lavender from Virginia Tech SEDS (serving as acting Director of Chapter Affairs). I'm working with these students and acting in the capacity of SEDS-USA Chair until enough students get involved and we have formal elections to establish the board. Thus ends this first, brief update, but you can look forward to more frequent (weekly to bi-weekly) updates from us as we get organized. You can expect to be hearing from myself and the other students as we get back in touch with you. As we get started, I'd like to hear what your desires are for how SEDS-USA might help your chapter better network with other chapters, take advantage of opportunities available to students, and otherwise serve the chapters as best we can. Even better would be for you to volunteer your time and passion for space exploration by serving on the SEDS-USA board of directors!
