SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) is dedicated to expanding the role of human exploration and development of space. We also seek to educate the public in such a way as to attain this goal. We have many ways of doing this, including educational outreach, conferences, and chapter projects.
SEDS recognizes the recent accident at Scaled Composites that took the lives of three people and injured three others. SEDS would like to note that Scaled has set up support fund. For more information, click here.

|This chapter spotlight is of the Illinois Space Society at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. With a membership of over 50 students, this chapter is staying active in the technical aspects as well as social and community involvement. They have just recently sent several members to this year’s AAS Goddard Memorial Symposium and are currently getting geared up for this year’s Yuri’s Night Space Party. Also, they will be participating in events such as Illinois Space Day, which will be held April 14th, the Relay for Life, and will be having astronaut Scott Altman (a U of I alumni) as a guest speaker via video feed. On the technical side, the chapter is currently focusing on building a supersonic rocket, which they plan to launch from the salt flats of Utah this coming summer or fall. Again, keep up the good work!|
